HSS 2019: Summary findings from Basra, Iraq

In 2019, PAX and its local partner, the Iraqi Al-Firdaws Society conducted a Human Security Survey (HSS) across Basra about the experiences of civilian populations with issues of insecurity and conflict.

The HSS is developed by PAX's Protection of Civilians team and includes a series of complementary activities, including population-based research, community engagement, and advocacy. The survey in Basra, Iraq, took place over 3 weeks in March-April 2019. A total of 14 enumerators (6 females and 8 males) conducted 816 surveys (44% female respondents and 56% male respondents) across all seven districts in the governorate.
