Waiting for accountability: 6 years after Hawija – PAX Protection of Civilians Conference 2021
On December 1-3, 2021, PAX brought together PoC partners to discuss three key themes: international support to local security actors, accountability for military missions, and PoC champions in the future of warfare.
On day 2 (theme: Accountability for military missions), Mohammed Abdulkareem Khthar (Head of Programs at Al-Ghad League for Woman and Child Care), Lauren Gould (Project Leader at, Intimacies of Remote Warfare, Utrecht University) and Saba Azeem (Project Lead Human Security Survey Iraq at PAX) engaged in an interactive discussion on accountability regarding the Dutch-led bombing raid on the Iraqi town of Hawija, Iraq, in the night of June 2, 2015.
