NATO Human Security
The report, How to safefuard human security amid changing NATO priorities, examines support for and implementation of the human security concept in NATO. The report demonstrates that human security is at risk of deprioritization, now that the Alliance is shifting evermore towards preparedness for collective defense.
In the report, PAX argues that a successful shift towards stronger military answers to collective security threats should be complemented by, rather than overlooking, a focus on human security and understanding the human environment. Both in preparation for collective defense scenarios on NATO’s own territory, as well as to safeguard progress made, and the ability to capitalize on opportunities in partnership work, such as the NATO Mission Iraq.
